If you’ve been running the same cooling tower for a decade and you’re planning a replacement — or if you’re specifying cooling for a new plant and you need a unit that goes in fast, runs reliably, and doesn’t become a maintenance problem — a package type FRP cooling tower is almost certainly where this conversation ends up.

It’s the most widely installed industrial cooling tower type in India. But “widely installed” doesn’t mean all units are equal. The difference between a package tower that runs trouble-free for 18 years and one that becomes a headache by year four comes down entirely to what’s inside — the grade of fill, the motor specification, the quality of the FRP layup, and the engineering rigour behind the thermal design.

This page covers all of that. By the end, you’ll know exactly what to look for in any package cooling tower quote — and why what we build stands apart from the market-rate alternatives.

What Is a Package Type Cooling Tower?

A package type cooling tower is a factory-manufactured, self-contained cooling unit that arrives on site as a complete assembly — casing, fill, water distribution system, fan, motor, and basin all pre-fitted and aligned. The “package” refers to the fact that all components are integrated at the factory, not assembled piecemeal on site.

This contrasts with field-erected towers — large custom-built structures assembled on site from components — which are used for very large capacity applications. Package towers cover the vast majority of industrial and commercial cooling requirements, from small process cooling systems to multi-cell industrial installations handling thousands of tonnes of refrigeration.

In the FRP variant — which is what we manufacture — the structural casing, basin, and internal components are all made from fibre-reinforced plastic. This replaces the galvanised steel, painted MS, or timber used in older tower designs and delivers superior corrosion resistance, longer service life, and lower maintenance cost across the full operating lifespan.

Why "Package Type" Means More Than Just Fast Delivery

The factory-assembled nature of a package tower isn’t just about convenience on site. It creates a series of structural quality advantages that field-assembled or site-built towers can’t match.

What's Inside Our Package Type FRP Cooling Towers — Standard Features

The features below are standard across our package tower range — not optional extras at additional cost. This is worth emphasising because the market is full of towers quoted competitively that achieve their price point by downgrading exactly these components.

100% FRP casing and basin

No painted steel panels that blister and rust within three monsoon seasons. No MS basin pitting from hard water TDS.

High-efficiency PVC film fill

Specified per your water temperature range and TDS — not a generic one-type-fits-all selection.

Wide-aperture PP nozzles

Sized for Maharashtra hard water. Wider openings reduce clogging frequency without sacrificing distribution uniformity.

IE2 / IE3 class motors

Meeting BEE efficiency norms as standard — not an upcharge. Anti-vibration mounts and weatherproof (IP55) enclosure included.

High-efficiency drift eliminators

PVC, designed for <0.001% drift loss. Reduces water consumption and manages Legionella risk from day one.

FRP fan blades

Lightweight, corrosion-immune, factory-balanced. Reduced starting torque and lower noise versus metal blades.

How We Manufacture and Deliver Package Towers

Everything is done in-house at our Maharashtra manufacturing facility. We don’t source-and-brand from third-party fabricators — our engineers design each tower, our production team fabricates it, and our commissioning team installs and verifies it. This matters for after-sales support: when something needs attention years down the line, the people you call are the same people who built it.

FAQ's

What is a package type FRP cooling tower and how does it differ from other cooling tower types?

A package type cooling tower is a factory-assembled, self-contained unit that arrives on site ready to connect to your piping and electrical supply. All components — casing, fill, water distribution, fan, motor, and basin — are integrated and pre-tested at the factory before dispatch. This differs from field-erected towers (assembled on site from components, used for very large capacities) and natural draft towers (no fans, airflow by convection). Package type is the most practical choice for the majority of industrial and commercial cooling requirements because it combines wide capacity range, fast installation, and consistent quality.

How long does it take to get a package type cooling tower delivered and installed?

Standard delivery timeline from order confirmation is typically 4–8 weeks depending on capacity and current production schedule. For urgent requirements, we can sometimes accelerate for standard sizes — discuss your timeline with our team at the enquiry stage. Site installation and commissioning for a single-cell package tower is typically 2–5 days once the civil foundation is ready. Multi-cell installations take proportionally longer depending on the number of cells and complexity of the common basin work.

How often does PVC fill need to be replaced in a package cooling tower?

PVC film fill typically lasts 5–8 years in Maharashtra industrial conditions, with significant variation depending on water quality and maintenance regime. Hard water with high TDS accelerates scaling on the fill surface, which reduces airflow through the channels and degrades thermal performance. Regular chemical water treatment significantly extends fill life. Splash fill — an alternative to film fill in very high TDS or fouling-risk applications — typically lasts longer but has somewhat lower thermal efficiency. We can advise on fill type based on your water analysis.

Do you supply spare parts for package type towers made by other manufacturers?

Yes — we supply PVC fill, drift eliminators, nozzles, FRP fan blades, and other components compatible with most standard package tower configurations. In most cases we need the existing tower dimensions and fill geometry to confirm compatibility. Our team can advise based on photos and specifications. This is particularly useful for plants running older towers where the original manufacturer no longer provides support or where spare parts lead times from distant suppliers are too long for operational needs.

What water treatment is needed for a package type FRP cooling tower?

Evaporative cooling towers concentrate dissolved minerals as water evaporates, which increases TDS over time and accelerates scaling on fill and heat exchangers. A minimum water treatment programme includes: blowdown to control TDS (typically targeting 3–5 cycles of concentration), scale inhibitor dosing to prevent calcium carbonate deposition, a biocide programme to control Legionella and algae, and pH correction to maintain water in the non-corrosive range (typically pH 7–8.5). We recommend engaging a reputable water treatment specialist to commission and monitor your cooling water chemistry. We can recommend trusted providers in Maharashtra.
