A package type cooling tower is a factory-manufactured, self-contained cooling unit that arrives on site as a complete assembly — casing, fill, water distribution system, fan, motor, and basin all pre-fitted and aligned. The “package” refers to the fact that all components are integrated at the factory, not assembled piecemeal on site.
This contrasts with field-erected towers — large custom-built structures assembled on site from components — which are used for very large capacity applications. Package towers cover the vast majority of industrial and commercial cooling requirements, from small process cooling systems to multi-cell industrial installations handling thousands of tonnes of refrigeration.
In the FRP variant — which is what we manufacture — the structural casing, basin, and internal components are all made from fibre-reinforced plastic. This replaces the galvanised steel, painted MS, or timber used in older tower designs and delivers superior corrosion resistance, longer service life, and lower maintenance cost across the full operating lifespan.

PVC film fill typically lasts 5–8 years in Maharashtra industrial conditions, with significant variation depending on water quality and maintenance regime. Hard water with high TDS accelerates scaling on the fill surface, which reduces airflow through the channels and degrades thermal performance. Regular chemical water treatment significantly extends fill life. Splash fill — an alternative to film fill in very high TDS or fouling-risk applications — typically lasts longer but has somewhat lower thermal efficiency. We can advise on fill type based on your water analysis.

Evaporative cooling towers concentrate dissolved minerals as water evaporates, which increases TDS over time and accelerates scaling on fill and heat exchangers. A minimum water treatment programme includes: blowdown to control TDS (typically targeting 3–5 cycles of concentration), scale inhibitor dosing to prevent calcium carbonate deposition, a biocide programme to control Legionella and algae, and pH correction to maintain water in the non-corrosive range (typically pH 7–8.5).
